Dr. Maria Macfarlane is an accomplished and highly skilled dentist who has been practicing in Tauranga, New Zealand for over 20 years. She earned her Doctor of Dental Science Degree from the University of Otago in 1998 and became registered to practice in New Zealand in 2001. Throughout her career, Dr. Macfarlane has gained a reputation as a trusted and compassionate practitioner who is dedicated to providing high-quality care to her patients.

Dr. José Marinho
BSc (Hons), BDS, Member of American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr José Marinho, originally from Portugal, graduated from Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry in the United Kingdom in 2011 after, initially, completing a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Manchester in 2006. Since graduating he has been at the forefront of dental knowledge and innovation, he has regularly invested time and resources in several post-graduate courses including the world-renowned Cosmetic Dentistry & Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry course in London. He was also recognised as a finalist of the prestigious Private Dentistry awards as Best Young Dentist in the UK 2018.
Before moving to New Zealand, José worked in prominent private dental practices in Central London providing high-end treatments and smile makeovers to his much-loved patients. His caring and empathetic approach makes him extensively popular with his patients, to which he comes highly recommended.
José provides a wide range of treatments and has a special interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry including veneers, tooth-coloured restorations and teeth whitening. He also has extensive experience as a certified provider of Invisalign and clear fixed braces.
He sits on the executive board of the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. José has also volunteered his time and skills to help marginalised communities in New Zealand and Fiji. In addition, he has published articles on oral health advice for the NZ Herald and The Weekend Sun.

Rosemary Edwards
Hygienist
Rosemary graduated in 1985 from Birmingham Dental University, UK.
Rosemary has a wealth of dental experience and feels strongly about making a difference in her work and is passionate about transforming patients mouths and seeing improvements in their oral conditions.
She aims to make prevention work for her patients and hopes to change habits for optimal dental health. Outside of the practice Rosemary enjoys spending time with her family, keeping fit with walking, swimming and water sports….she loves being on the water or on the beach. She and her husband are keen renovators-having renovated many properties together.
Brooke Holmes
RDH, BSDH, COSE
Brooke is our Laser Dental Hygienist. She joined our team in 2020, and has 18 years of clinical experience. She completed her Dental Hygiene training at Western Kentucky University in the USA, which was ranked as a top 3 Dental Hygiene program in the States during her time there. Brooke obtained a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene with Honours from WKU.
Brooke has training in Advanced Periodontal Therapy, which means she is adept in knowledge and skill in treating all stages of periodontal disease. She is also the first Hygienist in New Zealand to train for and own an Epic Hygiene Laser, and she travels around New Zealand lecturing and training other hygienists and therapists in Soft Tissue Laser Therapy. She is the first clinician in New Zealand to offer this type of training and skill advancement to other clinicians. She loves to give personalised treatment to a patient's unique individual needs, and to see healing and the improved health outcomes of each patient.
Brooke has completed her COSE (Certificate in Oral Systemic Education) Certificate from the USA, giving her the most up to date knowledge from industry leaders in Oral Systemic Health as it relates to Complex Body Systems.
When not in the hygiene surgery, Brooke coaches basketball and football; and loves spending time with her children and family. She loves living and working in New Zealand, and life in the Bay of Plenty.
Brooke is a Member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH), the National Network of Healthcare Hygienists (NNHH), and the New Zealand Oral Health Association (NZOHA).
Tania Johnson
Practice Manager
Meet Tania, our highly esteemed Practice Manager who has been an integral part of our team since the day we opened our doors over 4 years ago. With over 35 years of experience in the dental industry, Tania is a skilled professional who ensures our practice operates with optimal efficiency and seamless precision.
As your first point of contact, Tania will warmly greet you either in person at our reception or over the phone. She is passionate about delivering our core values and strives to change people’s perceptions of visiting the dentist. Tania takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service by attentively listening to each patient’s needs and desires with professionalism and non-judgmental demeanour. Following this, she will direct you to the right dental professional within our practice.
